Is the Grim Reaper a mythical creature?

In my own personal opinion, I do not consider the Grim Reaper to be one. I believe he's more of a religious figure, or an explanation of death (If that makes sense. Many different cultures have their own version of the Grim Reaper to help explain what happens after death). It's kind of like saying that God is a mythical creature, it just doesn't sound right (If you believe in that kind of stuff).

In some parts of Asia, like China and Japan, they say that beings called Shinigami or "Death spirits" come for people when their time comes. 2  out of 3 found this valuable. Do you?
