The article says it's of the INTERMEDIATE races between angels and humans, which is that the Djinn (or Jan, whatever you want to call them) are. The Djinn/Jan race live in between the divine and mortal realms (the word intermediate in this case is speaking of location, not race). Seeing as they /can/ interact with both the angelic realm and the human realm, it makes sense to describe them thus. There are actually tales of humans having Jan/Djinn ancestors, however, if you want to talk about cross-breeding. Just an interesting bit of detail some folks may not know about ^_^.
