i belive that is how every creature got into the earth i think a civilization found the path to a different world and they let in every creature or mythical creature and each one has been told to be in a hiding and if they get caught or found they will be cursed and never let back and i also think there is a mythical creaure that has the power to yelp a signal that only creaures can hear and has to find its way the triangle and let all back in all the creatures by yelping

What if landmarks were actually the keys.
And also what if the guardians were long dead but had set natural forces to stop us reaching or realizing what the keys were.
eg. Bermuda triangle, mostly underwater (humans naturally incapable of reaching deepest points)
