When it says "Human Host" I think it means its compactor. It is a spirit summond to be a gaurdian for a human, this human-spirit compact allows the spirit to exist in the world of the living. Almost every, non-demonic, spiritual encounter is based off of an item being possessed. When a spirit is with a human it can live with that human.
