This has already been disproven.
I don't remember the show that did it, but these are just things like bugs or birds, or even bats that just move very quickly, and when captured in a photograph, create a blur, hence the illusion of the rod.

Sorry to burst your bubble
Rods have been disproven to just be a flicker or some sort of a camera lense hence why its only seen on video. They had a special about it on tv where they did experiments to show what it really was. I think it was on the discovery channel not sure but I watched a year or so back.

Rods
A rod is a well proven but a very hard to see creature. In some videos on newscasts and even home videos shows tiny or very large creatures. mostly sited around the great planes areas they show up as brown and yellow streaks on a video. T
