These creatures are said to be very similar to griffins. The name meaning powdered wine gives speculation on color or possibly the condition of the storyteller.
These birdlike creatures were obedient to a fault. The story goes that a warrior was given two Adar Llwch Gwins. His name was Drudwas ap Tryffin. This man tried to gain advantage in a duo with another named Arthur b commanding the birds to kill the first fighter which was meant to be Arthur. Unfortunately, Arthur was late which made Druwas the first. His one birds tore him to death. It must have been a spectacular sight to see.
Other information on these creatures say that they understood every physical language. (I wonder if they knew other languages also.) This is one creature that would be fascinating to find their origin story. Their purpose is servitude, though one should not insult their intelligence. There is a claim that they make very good spiritual companions.
