Fairy Origins- Beg to Differ
Apr 12 2012, 5:43 PM EDT
Hey there, Umm, I have to combat this information because, everyone says "mythology" comes from greece or italy and I'm sorry but it's just not true. There are texts- thousands up on thousands of years old. (if you need exact dates, I'll go get them) of the fae- truly known as the Tuatha De Danaan (People of the Hills) in Celtic culture. They were the first "beings" to be made from the Tree of Life which grew on the bay of Mother Danu (known today as the Danube River). The Fae were wing like creature that established four cities to love and appreciate the winds. They fought the Fomorii- Children of Domnu, to gain the hills from which the seed of people may begin. (To explain: Danu is everythign good, light-as in sun-, water itself, while Domnu is bad, dark-as in underground-, fire itself. The human seed needed both contrast to coexist within them in order to reach a potency of understanding and elightenment that the Fae-Children of Danu (I forgot to mention) could not achieve. Which is why they fought this battle, so that they may help us, and serve us (in the sense of a mentor, not like a slave) through our lives, but we mistreated them and degraded them with our Domnu side, and we slowly put them down to this level of Fae (or Little Ones-rough translation). I have been researching in the Dublin University about mythology for many years. I would love to discuss this, if anyone feels I have made a mistake- I promise I am not high-handed or close-minded about this, if there are other original texts floating around, I REALLY do wish to see them. Thank you for your consideration. 4 out of 5 found this valuable. Do you? |

Also, please keep in mind I wrote this without any of my books in or notes in front of me, just pure memory, so if I misspelled or misinterpreted a part- although I think the story is pretty much right- Please feel free to correct. Much Love and Blessed Be.

Good morning - your knowledge of this subject intrigues me. I have committed to myself that I will write down all of the stories that I used to tell my daughter when she was young (she is 19 now...). I thought I would research a little bit so that I could put some logical background and cohesive thread around each story. My research has drawn me to the creatures of the Fae and has given me a lot of things to work with. What surprised me most were how many creatures from Harry Potter are in there. My question to you is how the legend of the Fae moved from the Danube to the Celtic origins that we see in Ireland, Cornwall, Wales and Scotland. I would also like, if you are agreeable, to run some of my character profiles by you as a sanity check. Kind regards Ray Do you find this valuable? |
