MordredThis is a featured page

Mordred is a character in Arthurian legends oft known as a notorious traitor, and son of Arthur (or nephew depending on the story), whom was slain in the Battle of Camlann and left his father the King fatally wounded (but we all know how that ended, and if you weren't King Arthur goes to Avalon with the Lady of the Lake or Morgan le Fay again it is dependent on the story you read). Mordred is the product of a brief tryst between Arthur and his half sister Morgause, though Morgause is often fused withMorgan Le Fay as she issaid to be the daughter of, Lady Igraine and her first husband Gorlois, so that Arthur, the son of Igraine and Uther Pendragon, is her half-brother. Mordred's half siblings on from his mother and her husband King Lot of Orkney, are Gawain, Agravain, Gaheris, and Gareth. Lot is said to have known that Mordred was not his own, yet for the sake of appearances kept this fact a secret. Mordred's upbringing was an unhappy one and filled with hatred and mistreatment of his assumed father. Later in life, for one reason or another, Morguase saw fit to tell Mordred of his true father and he then set off to Camelot under the guise of being reunited with his birth father. Of course, considering that Mordred is a product of the Arthurian legends, there are many versions of his origins, exploits and intentions. There is one consistency though, in that Mordred is a symbol of chaos. Whether this be simply killing Arthur, or his using of Camelot’s laws to topple what they were set to uphold.
