Blackwater
Umbrella started in 1933 under the name Genetech. It was founded by Clarissa Belle- the leading scientist in her day, though she was young at the time, her advances into genetic research and the gene splicing of humans and non-humans was superb. For three months they experimented on humans with no success before turning their attention to humans. The animal dna wouldn't merge with the non-human dna, resulting in innumerable deaths.
They asked the government for access to the orphaned youths who were a drain on the government's precious resources in that day.
They were given the clear.
Under this guise they not only took youths of all ages from orphanages across the country but also kidnapped children wherever they thought they could get away with it.
The same year Umbrella started, the Securities Act of 1933 was passed, requiring companies to disclose all pertinent information to stockholders.
They've been hiding behind that Act for years. In 1976 they sold that company to Robert Swanson, their biggest stockholder at the time.
They sold it because their experiments had been escaping and needed to go underground for a time. He added a letter to the name and kept everything else to same, though from what I hear he no longer experiments on humans.
His company is still operational. This is their website.
In between 1933 and 1976 was horror.
Their first non-orphan experiment, number 005, went by the name of Lily Rose, though no experiment held a name in Umbrella. They were kept in cells roughly the size and dimensions of a large dog kennel. A human could do no more than kneel in them. Few people got out of Umbrella alive. Lily was one of the ones who did.
She was captured in 1934, at the age of 16, and put through the standard tests and measurements. Height, weight, basic medical exams to search for any outstanding condition including eye exams, and also put through a stress test which consisted of deprivation from food and sleep for 33 hours in an isolated cell. After that she was taken to a less secluded cell and left where the doctors could more readily get to her. She was kept there for three months before there was an explosion in the facility. Her and seven others managed to escape. Whether or not they had outside help is still unknown. What is known is that Lily escaped with enhanced senses, strength, an increased temper, cellular regeneration over time (but at a significantly faster rate than a humans'), and considerably stronger bones along with small amounts of steel shot directly into her larger muscles, specifically in her arms and legs, along with large array of anti-poisons which resulted in an immunity to almost all poisons and toxins.
Her loss was felt throughout the company. As damage control, Umbrella sent out what security they had in an effort to locate the missing experiments and bring them back to the facility.
Three of the missing experiments were returned. Two were killed. Three remained at large. Of those three, two dropped off the map. It was the only means they had of escaping Umbrella.
One remained where she was. Lily remained in her hometown of Cave Springs, Georgia. The officials sent after her either disappeared entirely or showed up outside of the facility mangled and broken. It remained this way until Lily's death in 1937.
During this period, Umbrella made quite a few strides in their work though they kept this information as far from the public.
In 1975 the **** hit the fan. There was a mass breakout in London. 41 people were killed in the London underground. They blamed it on a train malfunction, though it was actually caused by several dangerous experiments making a daring escape.
Threatened to be outed by the leader of this group afterward. Umbrella was forced to give away their company and go even further underground.
They remained that deep underground until 1997- a year after Resident Evil's initial release. As the game grew more popular, they slowly took over the name of the main company in it- Umbrella. In present day, Umbrella still operates although due to the recent 'Bath Salts' scare, it's in the process of acquiring yet another new identity.
With an identity or not, they are still kidnapping innocent people. These are disappearances the police won't do much digging in. They make a public effort, but nothing really comes of it because nothing is meant to come of it. Umbrella is backed by the government, and particularly the SCP. The SCP takes Umbrella a percentage of the nonhumans they 'contain' for a certain amount of stock in the company.
Umbrella uses black or white vehicles for the kidnapping- typically service vans that lack windows or cars or vans with heavily tinted windows. The work fast and discreetly. If they take you, you won't have much of a chance.
My name is Natalie Rose now. I'm in the body of what I suspect to be yet another Umbrella experiment.
I was once Lily Rose.
This is what I know of Umbrella, through years of research. I will be posting more pages, both on known Umbrella experiments and on other government agencies in league with Umbrella. Next, I will post a page on the SCP.
