One of the sons of Polyphonte, He is a giant that was punished by the gods for cannibalism and cruelty. The story goes to say that he was turned into an eagle. This creature was a demigod, but their father was a bear rather than a human. So these giants were half bear waist down. His name meant of the mountain.
